I’m Paulo. I build things for the web.
Front-end is my craft. Understanding the rest of the application is part of doing it well.
From law to software
I graduated in law from Atitus Educação in 2021. During the degree I interned at the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Labour Court, the Public Defender’s Office and the State Attorney General’s Office, and later worked at a law firm, where I moved case tracking from paper to Trello. I had been building front-end projects on my own for years before that. In 2021 I joined Trybe’s web development bootcamp, which led to my first engineering role in 2022.
Four years at XP Inc. Then building independently.
From 2022 to 2026 I worked at XP Inc., a Nasdaq-listed company, across several teams. On Web Platforms, a front-end team of four with dedicated tech, product and design leads, I worked on the Home Broker migration. In the trader area I built pages for a hub for active traders, including Clube Trader. On the e-commerce for third-party trading platforms I was the only front-end developer and owned the whole front end, which is still live. Since leaving XP Inc. I have built a case management system for that same law firm, and I am now taking on freelance projects and remote contract roles.
How I work
At XP Inc., every change went through pull request review, with unit tests in Jest and Testing Library and end-to-end tests in Playwright. I work closely with designers, from the handoff to direct messages when a detail is unclear or I have a suggestion. On accessibility, I build for keyboard navigation and test pages with the NVDA screen reader.
I use AI tools every day: GitHub Copilot at XP Inc., and Claude Code in my own projects, including this site. I keep testing new tools and workflows to see what they can reliably do in real code.
